Software I use, gadgets I love, and other things I recommend.

I get asked a lot about the things I use to build software, stay productive, or buy to fool myself into thinking I’m being productive when I’m really just procrastinating. Here’s a big list of all of my favorite stuff.

Workstation

  • 16” MacBook Pro, M1 Max, 64GB RAM (2021)

I’ve used Macs for the last 15 years and don’t see myself switching any time soon. The M1 Max is an absolute beast.

  • Apple Studio Display (2022)

The only display that truly integrates seamlessly with macOS. The speakers and webcam are fantastic.

  • MX Master 3S for Mac

The best mouse for productivity. The MagSpeed scroll wheel is a game-changer.

  • Keychron K2 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard (V2)

A fantastic mechanical keyboard with Gateron Brown switches. Great for both typing and coding.

Development Tools

  • VS Code

My go-to code editor. Extensions, performance, and integrated terminal make it indispensable.

  • iTerm2

A powerful replacement for macOS Terminal. Split panes, hotkey windows, and more.

  • Docker Desktop

Essential for consistent development environments. Docker Compose makes multi-service apps a breeze.

  • TablePlus

A modern, native, and friendly GUI tool for relational databases. Supports many databases.

  • Postman

For testing APIs. It's a bit heavy, but its features are hard to beat.

Design

  • Figma

The best tool for UI/UX design. Collaborative features are unmatched.

  • Linear

Super fast issue tracking and project management. Perfect for agile teams.

Productivity

  • Raycast

A powerful spotlight replacement. Custom scripts and extensions boost productivity.

  • Todoist

My preferred task manager for personal and work tasks. Simple yet powerful.
